Course Outline

OTC South Pacific is proud to present a new virtual series of interactive webinars involving lectures and case discussions around managing complex fractures & extreme nailing.

Each session will utilise case discussions to teach and challenge attendees how to diagnose and treat complex fractures in the upper & lower limbs, pelvis and acetabular, including the use of extreme nailing techniques.

Part 1 will focus on the lower limb with topics covering proximal and tibial fractures. The webinars will focus on case discussions of controversial issues regarding treatment algorithms and the selection of surgical approaches to reduction and fixation.

Each webinar has been accredited by the AOA for 2 CPD points.

This webinar will comprise case-based discussion about the use of IM Nailing difficult proximal femoral fractures, with specific reference to the surgical approach in young patients, as well as tips and tricks for successful nailing in complex cases.

Participants will be encouraged to engage in the discussion.

Assumed Knowledge

Basic fracture management techniques and principles including:
i. IM Nail
ii. Plating
iii. Soft tissue management
iv. Hip, pelvis and lower limb anatomy and standard approaches
v. General knowledge of proximal femoral and tibial fixation options
